The natural world is a recurring inspiration for my art. The sea most of all. During 2022-23, I took a year off from the real world and crewed on various sailboats\u00a0from Norway to the Caribbean and back across the Atlantic again. It was an unforgettable, life-changing journey that has fuelled a lot of my more recent painting.<\/p><p>I paint because I love the process of painting, and often my favourite pieces are abstracts. There is something incredibly freeing about starting with chaotic emotion and trying to find balance and composition.<\/p><p>My figurative work often focuses on animals. I love trying to add texture and character to the creatures I paint, whether they be cats or whales.<\/p><p>I've recently started getting more into watercolour; teaching myself its ways and figuring out where I always used to go wrong. Not overworking and having a white paint marker close by seem to be the most useful things so far.<\/p><p>I've lived in three countries and currently study Robotics and Mechatronics at the University of Leeds.
